A hidden market · alcohol-free
The Silk Road
Fruit, spice and leaf, carried west by caravan, one stall at a time.
For centuries the Silk Road linked China to the Mediterranean, and with the silk came the ingredients we still drink today. Walk the road from east to west, open a stall, and take something home for your glass.
The king at the gate
The pineapple never walked the Silk Road. It grew up in South America and reached Europe by ship, after Columbus met it on Guadeloupe in 1493.
Europe fell for it. In 18th-century Britain a pineapple was so prized that some were hired out just to be shown off at dinner parties, and it was carved over doorways as a sign of welcome. The king of fruits, and the symbol of hospitality. So he keeps the gate.

Where are you?
Seasons are a rough guide for home-grown fruit. They shift with the region and the year, so trust your market and your nose.
The spice rack
Every spice that came along the road, on one shelf. Tap a jar to open it.
Every serve here is alcohol-free. Taste as you go: fruit changes with the season, so adjust the sweet and the sour to suit what's in front of you.
What we drink, we become.
